Singapore has often been called the gateway to Asia, as it’s one of the busiest shipping ports in the world, but it’s not just its international trade that makes Singapore so sought after, in terms of destinations. It has a huge tourism industry, with plenty of attractions and fun family activities to discover as well, so if you’ve only got a few days to visit this vibrant metropolis, there’s a few must-see spots to put on the agenda. Here’s a quick guide to spending 48 hours in Singapore and seeing the sights.

24 hours:

When you first arrive in Singapore, you’ll be blown over by the amount of skyscrapers and city lights. Its skyline is one of the most beautiful in the world and the best way to take it all in is by visiting the Singapore Flyer. This is one of the largest observation wheels in the world and measures a whopping 165 metres. The Singapore Flyer is the perfect way to start your first day in Singapore, get your bearings in the city and learn more general information about Singapore.

Once you’ve made it safety back to the ground floor, head out of the doors and make your way to Singapore’s Chinatown. This area is bustling with street vendors and shopping districts and is home to the Chinatown Heritage Centre, where you can learn about the early history of this community. Make sure to arrive hungry, as you’ll have plenty of food options, from sit down restaurants to street stalls, all serving up delicious authentic Chinese food.

When the sun sets, there’s one Singapore attraction that really comes to life; the Singapore Night Safari. This is the world’s first nocturnal zoo and is home to 2,500 animals, all residing within seven geophysical zones. Enjoy watching one of the live shows, where you’ll be able to see these nocturnal creatures up close and personal, in their simulated habitats.

48 hours:

Singapore is surrounded by beautiful offshore island; 63 to be exact. Sentosa is the largest and is full of fun-filled attractions. For the last leg of your 48 hours, get up early and hitch a ride on Singapore’s cable car network, to get onto the island. From here, you can spend the morning visiting all the sights, from Universal Studios to the Trick Eye Museum and even enjoy swimming with dolphins.

If you’ve still got time after your busy morning, head to one of Singapore’s best kept beaches, Palawan. This long stretch of coastline jumps right out of a holiday postcard, with swaying palm trees and white pristine sands. It’s still on Sentosa island and has plenty of facilities along its coastline, such as bars and restaurants, as well as the pirate themed Port of the Lost World water park, for an afternoon of shenanigans. Pack the sun cream and make a whole day of it on Sentosa.

Before you head back to the hotel, make sure to grab a cocktail or two in one of Singapore’s nightlife venues. Some are so lively they even rival that of their neighbour Bangkok. From luxurious rooftop bars to jazz cafes, there’s a nightlife spot for you in Singapore.
